JULY 2015: A MONTH LOST IN THAILAND #2

JULY 2015: A MONTH LOST IN THAILAND II
EL SUR
Koh Samui

THE SOUTH

Koh Samui

We got to the Isle of Koh Samui late at night. Maybe that was the reason we started on a bad note there.

We didn’t like the hotel at all, infested with mosquitos and very dirty! So we made the decision to find a new destination. The next morning we already had a ticket to Koh Phangan.

 Koh Phangan
Krabi.

Koh Phangan

We woke up in Paradise, even though this land is well known for hosting the “Full Mooon Party” we decided to take it easy on our days there. A room with views to the seaside would be our home for the next 4 days at “The Coast Resort” ( www.thecoastphangan.com ). We again rented a motorbike (a cheap and recommended vehicle with costs about 4€/day) and we spent the days checking all the nearby beaches. 2 amazing days of sun, beaches and great sunsets….

Deciding to leave this place was a hard thing to do, even more knowing that we had 6 hours ahead of us travelling to our next destination… Krabi.

Krabi
Next destination: Phuket.

Krabi

Known for its relaxing atmosphere and its beaches, we stayed the night in the village of Krabi, where we explored the night street food market before heading up north the next day where we had our next hotel.

The “Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort” ( www.tubkaakresort.com/es ), that is the name of the romantic, relaxed and breathtaking hotel that was waiting for us our next nights. We had breakfast in front of a wide white-sand beach, and just rising our sight a little bit we could see a natural park of islets that didn’t took us long to visit: “Hong Island” and its surroundings

This was a pretty complete stay, took a cooking lesson where we learned how to cook Pad Thai (delicious!), visited “Hong Island” on a boat and we got ourselves a proper Thai massage. I must admit i fell in love with the room we got… a villa with swimming pool that was hard to leave.. The perfect spot to rest and relax.

And it felt pretty awesome to get to rest after all the moving around we did. When you travel to such a big country and you only have 30 days, to get to check a lot of things turns into a very difficult mission and you end up losing a lot of time travelling around.

Our next destination: Phuket.

Phuket

Phuket

We took a car to Phuket, I was really looking forward to come back there after 6 years. Had great memories of it.

Honestly, in my humble opinion, Phuket is not the place to go to visit temples or have a cultural visit. My advice is that you take your time there to relax, It is a place where you can find great hotels and beautiful beaches. Relax.

And that’s what we did! We had an amazing time in the  most amazing hotels there.

We first stayed at the “Sri Panwa Hotel” ( www.sripanwa.com ). Our room was this amazing villa surrounded by a pool with views to the sea. To wake up, lift your head up and see the sunrise or spending the afternoon in the room’s swimming pool watching the sunset…. is without a doubt another of the highlights of our trip. I’ll have the picture of the most amazing villas i’ve ever stayed stuck in my head forever.

After that, we moved to a private villa very cozy and quiet a little bit up north: “The Bell Pool Villa Resort” ( https://www.theluxenomad.com/phuket/kamala-beach/villas/the-bell-pool-villa-resort-phuket). We stayed there thanks to “The Luxe Nomad”, a company created to find you the best stay in the SouthEast of Asia ( www.theluxenomad.com). And it was just like that! We spent the days surrounded by amazing food, massages and a room that recharged our batteries.

The Phi Phi Islands
The Phi Phi Islands

Every day that went by the end of the trip was closer and closer, but there was a stop in our journey that we could not skip: The “Phi Phi Islands”. We looked for a bungalow in front of the beach to spend some nights in the most paradise-like places in Thailand. We managed to negotiate with a boat owner ti have a little tour around those islands. A lost paradise that without a doubt, sadly, will get too popular and crowded in no time.

Back To Bangkok
 Back To Bangkok
Going back to the city was hard, we took the time to make some shopping in the markets there and slept in the Khao San Road, the backpackers place. We had time to have a drink in the tallest bar in Bangkok, The Sky Bar at Lebua hotel ( www.lebua.com/sky-bar ). I really hope that in my next visit i have the chance to have dinner there. Amazing views! Just then we realised that our flight back home was just few hours ahead. For a split second we hoped that some harmless weather condition would cancel it….

Marc

And so that was my trip to Thailand. 31 unforgettable days that left me wanting more, all I wanted to do was to take a plane to a neighbour country and not back home…

Hope you found my diary interesting and useful, hopefully i will get the chance to tell you more about my next adventures soon.

  1. I have to say I was very inspired with the pictures you took on one of my dream destinations. Thailand is definatly a place I want to visit and this post just made me want to go even more. I’m only 17 so I guess I still have a long way to actually get there but you just motivated me to work harder. Great job on this post.
I was wondering: did pay yourself the whole trip?
PS: are you Spanish ? You post a lot of photos in Barcelona. I was there back in March on a school trip. Amazing city. By the way we are like neighbors because I’m from Portugal.

  2. Your photos and review on Thailand was one of the biggest factors that got me to book a trip in December. Although I’m only going for 2 weeks (not nearly enough time) I plan on scoping it out and making the best of my time there. I’m hoping to plan a future trip with my best friend and go for at least a month and experience a way more adventurous trip much like yours. Thank you for posting more information on this blog, I was craving more details behind the photos from your Instagram.

  3. This post is amazing! Like all you have written before. I love your job and really appreciate it.
I’m asking myself if you are going to post something similar but about your Mallorca’s trip. That would be great and very useful! I would like to go there this summer and I feel in love with the photos you uploaded to Instagram.

    Best regards!
