Hi everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016! I know lately I’ve been a little bit disappeared but you know… Christma is all about quality time with family and sometimes we forget about everything else.
But here I am, back to tell you everything about my last travel to Antigua the past December.
I would like you to know…
WHY SHOULD YOU VISIT ANTIGUA?
Antigua is one of the most amazing places I have ever been. It is an island in the Caribbean that doesn’t look like the tipical caribbean place. You have amazing beaches but also hills and mountains that create incredible landscapes. You can go hiking, horse riding and there are so many activities to do as a swim with the stingrays or a helicopter tour.
A beautiful destination for couples, friends or families because there is a part of the island for everyone.
WHERE TO STAY?
There are so many beautiful hotels like:
The Coco Bay Resort: in the middle of two clear blue water beaches and with amazing views to the sea. This place own two infinity pools also with sea views and a little one that seems to be floatting suspended in the air in the middle of an amazing landscape.
You can also rent a house there. It is possible to find good rates during low season and if you are a group it is worth it to rent one.
WHAT TO EAT?
I asked about typical food so many times… but depending on the zone you’re staying at, they don’t have “typical food”. The island is full of italian and british people who decided to move into the island so you will find so many italian restaurants around (Mauro’s Famous Pizza is ridiculously good for a pizza dinner). I also enjoyed pancakes for breakfast and super sandwiches for lunch at The Admiral’s.
You can also find a lot of fruit shops ubicated along the road and some seafood places too.
At the end of the trip we I discovered a Beach Club (Jaqui O’s Love Beach) with italian inspired food, cocktails and tasty desserts. The location was really nice for a lazy day that you decide to spend on the beach doing nothing but enjoying the postcard landscape.
WHAT TO VISIT?
You can spend every day in a different white sand beach, this island owns more than 365 beaches! But you can also go hiking and discover some amazing spots around. I strongly recommend to visit The Shirley Heights, and spend there a morning to see the amazing views or the last minutes of sun do that you can see the amazing sunset.
Antigua has become one of my favorite trips I have ever done, maybe because of the beaches, the weather… or just because it was a warm zone trip in December while at home it was really cold!
I can’t wait to go back and visit Barbuda too, they told me Barbuda own amazing pink sand beaches and there are not a lot of tourism…
Best,
Marc xx
